John

From the London Times of Aug 20, 1819 is this ad:

FOR BOMBAY Direct.--The new river-built Ship
SARAH, burden 480 tons, to be launched this month, and will
SAIL in all September, JOHN THACKER, Commander (of the Hon.
Company's service): this ship is most commodiously fitted up for pas-
sengers. For freight or passage apply to the Commander, at the Je-
rusalem Coffee-house: Mr. Weeding, Old South-Sea-house; or to
M'Callum, Isbister, and Horsley, 147, Leadenhall-street.

On Sept 8, 13, 17, 20, 28 and Oct 6, 8, and 11, 1819 are ads giving
the day of departure as Oct 15. I should mention that there is
another ship Sarah of 600 tons sailing at the same time to Bombay.
Then, on July 8, 1823 this ad:

FOR BOMBAY, the fine river-built SHIP SARAH.
A1 486 tons burden, JOHN THACKER, Commander, to sail in
__ July. Apply to Mr. Weeding, Old South Sea House or the com-
mander at the Jerusalem coffeehouse, or to Isbister and Horsley, 11,
Leadenhall-street.

She appears June 22, 1824 this time with Thomas Bowen, Commander.
June 16, 1825 with the same commander, sailing "early in July". On
Aug 4, 1826 the ad says she is 500 tons burden and the commander is
William Tucker and sailing is August but on Aug 31, the Times lists
her as "to sail in a few days".

Oct 2, 1827 the ad lists Tucker still as commander and says the ship
is due to arrive in a few days and "will be dispatched again as soon
as possible."

On Nov 13, 1827 she is "lying in the West India Export Dock" with no
sailing date given. Nov 22, 1830 she appears again in the ads with
Henry Colombine as Commander with no sailing date given.

Still sailing in Feb 13, 1832 ad ship "lying in St. Katharine's Dock"
but no commander listed. The March 7, 1832 ad lists Jas. T. Whiteside
as commander with sailing date of March 20.

Nov 15, 1832 she appears again to sail Jan 10, 1833. Aug 16, 1834
another ad and same Captain. Sep 23, 1836 James Trimmer Whiteside
still Commander.

Regards..
