Hi!
I joined this list to find the name of the ship from which Henry Young fell
into the Thames and drowned. The time was about 1855-1860. James' widow,
Mary Elizabeth Hall Young of Southwick, Durham emigrated to the America with
her 18 month old son, where she met and married my g-grandfather.
Does this list include information regarding sailing men?
Also, I have a copy of Ships, Saints & Mariners, a maritime encyclopedia of
Mormon Migration 1830-1890 by Conway B. Sonne. It includes an extensive
listing of sail and steam ships that were chartered by Mormon emigrants, and
many other ships that carried among their passengers groups of Mormons. The
listing ranges from the Abyssinia (a steam ship) to the Zetland (sail). I
would be glad to check this listing for anyone who thinks one of their
ancestors crossed between Europe (usually Liverpool as the final port of
debarkation) and North America, during this time period!
Thanks in advance for any information that anyone can provide.
