| [TSL] Scotland To Australia BEtween 1851 & 1868 | | |

Hello All,
I'm trying to find the ship and dates my Great Grandfather & Family left
Scotland & made their way to Australia.
His name is William CARSTAIRS (born 1847) Cellardyke, Fife, Scotland.
His family were on the 1851 Scottish Census at this address - father, John
CARSTAIRS, mother Agnes Carstairs (FERGUSON),
plus 4 Siblings John, Margaret, James, Agnes. - However I lose track of
them after that!
William turns up in 1868 at his wedding, being married to Mary Ann NELSON at
Sandridge, Victoria, Australia, on 1/4/1868.
At the time of his marriage he was living in Hastings, Victoria.
In c1878 he and his wife with 3 or 4 children in tow, shifted to Lakes
Entrance, Victoria (then known as Cunninghame),
where started what was to become a significant fishing fleet in later years.
He was lost at sea in 1898.
It's likely that he travelled to Australia with his father, mother &
siblings, but may have been on his own if it was
closer to 1868 (eg in his later teen years).
I have searched passenger records for Victoria and tried other states but I
am no expert so not surprising
that I can't track him down.
Hope someone can help
Graeme Owen
