| [TSL] Passenger listings UK to India 1895 to 1907 | | |

Greetings folk,
I'm seeking help to locate passenger lists for ships bound for India
between the above dates as my grandmother Sarah Gatley (from Stockport
Manchester) went to India as a "Lady's Companion" and there met my
grandfather, James Jesse Stroud, who was an NZer who enlisted in the
British Army on arrival in England. Family lore states he headed off to
England to find his birth parents and to seek his fortune and find
adventure" Being a highly skilled musician he was appointed a Staff
Sergeant in the British Army and joined the Viceroy's Band in Simla.
Would the shipping lists also show the members of the British forces
travelling to India?
My grandparents married in Colaba in the Wesleyan Church in May 1906 and
the following year Jim Stroud took his young bride back to NZ.
I'm hoping to write an account of their lives and need a lot more
information about the Indian period of their lives to round out the story.
Cheers
Ainslie.
