                  *new* for TheShipsList website http://www.theshipslist.com/

All the new and updated files and databases have been placed on their own
page(s)
Find them on the front page in between the big arrows
                                 -------------->      <---------------

At the bottom of each of these pages I have placed links named " previous
month " and " next month " so you are able to navigate back and forth
between the monthly *new & updated* pages, as I only keep three months of
*new* page links on the Home page. New for April 2009 is . . .

          o Fleets:
o Bolton Steam Shipping Co. Ltd 1885-1917 1921-1982 London
o Baines & MacKay / Black Ball Line, Liverpool

Yes, another two Fleets ... Bolton Steam Shipping Company was a cargo line,
however, this particular Black Ball Line will be familiar with our list
members who are researching sailing vessels to Australia. When Ted sent
the fleet, I was surprised to see how many vessels they owned, considering
they only operated the Black Ball Line for just under 20 years.

          o Passengers:
            o ... South Australia
o ship Lady Ann, from London, Plymouth to Port Adelaide 11th
October 1857
            o ... Quebec
o John Molson - 26th trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 11th
September 1830
o John Molson - 27th trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 18th
September 1830
o John Molson - 28th trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 23rd
September 1830
o John Molson - 29th trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 29th
September 1830
o John Molson - 30th trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 4th October 1830
o John Molson - 31st trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 9th October 1830
o John Molson - 32nd trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 15th October 1830
o John Molson - 33rd trip up, Quebec to Montreal, 21st October 1830

Just one 1857 ship to South Australia this week the Duncan Dunbar LADY
ANN. This time, the majority of passengers, including family groups, are
Irish.

Finally got back to the Quebec-Montreal steamboats. They are quicker to
transcribe right now as there are fewer passengers so late in the
navigation season. I hope to finish the last seven JOHN MOLSON lists for
1830 in the next week. Just to mention again ... when I see something like
.. John Walker & four friends & two children under 12 years .. As these
lists were more about accounting than accuracy, I take it as a form of
shorthand for this list compiler, rather than saying something like this
for example
... John Walker & wife & mother & brother & two children above 12 & two
children under 12 years ...
I expect some may have been simply friends, but with other "friends" as
family member adults in the group. Where there is just a man and wife it is
generally expressed that way .. William McConaghey & wife .. but my all
time favourite was .. James McGuin & sweetheart ..  ;-}

Please share this *new* for TheShipsList website email, with any other list
to which you belong if you think it might be of interest or value to those
list members (in other words, on-topic).

Enjoy

Sue
