Re: [TSL] Power and Fisher surnames

Hi Ariel

It is just possible that you may find records of your ggg grandfather
Matthew Power, in the series of crew agreements and seamen's tickets held
at the Public Record Office in Kew, England. Neither of these begin until
1835, so you need to keep your fingers crossed that he was still serving at
that stage. Were there any clues on Thomas's marriage certificate to
suggest that his father was still a serving mariner?

You will need records in classes BT120, 119 and 112 to start with - filmed
and quite hard to read, but they may hold the clues you need. If you are
lucky enough to find his name, there will hopefully be some clues about the
ships he served in - this is often in coded format but not too hard to
crack! The documents you need once you know the names of his ships are held
in BT98, logs and crew agreements.

If you need more help, do get back to me directly - meanwhile, happy
hunting!
