Re: [TSL] Questions on passenger lists -Reply

I am going back tonight to check some more and may find my original
perceptions are off, but it was very interesting last night!

I discovered on the page
http://www.archives.ca/www/SHIPS.html#QUEBEC
that there were lists for Quebec for 1865 -1919
actually to be more specific I first went to
http://www.archives.ca/www/ImmigrationRecords.html
and it listed the various time frames, etc.

I had this list for about a year before I finally decided to check to
see if we could get it through ILL. Our library here in Rutland, the
Rutland Free apparently is a member and they requested the
microfilm back in early October. It arrived yesterday. There has
been no charge associated with getting it this way save the
copy fees for the reader (@.15 a page). We have no passenger
lists on microfilm in our library, only the first three Filby Meyer books,
and miscellaneous other books on immigration. My ultimate goal
is to get my own reader by the way and join one of the genealogy
"clubs" as my kids call them myself.

If nothing else I am going to try to put together the 1867 and 1868 list
of ships arriving, port of embarkation, date, port they landed in and
date and name of ship as well of course. Hopefully!

One thing I did do when I went to the library to request this was give
them a copy of the web information on the lists and the web site. In
theory you can borrow it from the archives through ILL but my library
chose the AGLL route. Since we are so small it seemed to work better
to know exactly what I wanted and where it was available. Might
work for somebody else too.
Patty
