Hi Jeanne,
Welcome to the list.

<<Is there someone who could help me with this puzzle . In some of the paperwork that has come down in my family are the name of two ships the Sarah and the Pidgeon, and the date 1802. I presume because my ancestors are Canadian atht these ships reached ports in Canada but don`t know for sure or if they reached American ports and my ancestors migrate north to Canada. If anyone can shed some light on this , or if someone could tellme where to search for answers I would be very grateful - Am just getting sarted in geneology and from here it looks like a blank wall but I`m very encouraged by the number of you out there also trying and I hope to join your ranks------thanks!!!!!>>

I don't know of any 1802 arrival for these ships, but the 1801 arrival to Pictou, Nova Scotia, was well documented. The Pidgeon was thought to mis-named in some records, as it is known as the DOVE. Both the DOVE and the SARAH are online at the Pictou site, "Family Roots of Pictou County, Nova Scotia."

The original list may be found in the Public Archives of Nova Scotia.
This is the URL for the Pictou passenger list page

These are the URL's for the passengers lists for the two ships

The SARAH was from Fort William, with 350 passengers and there were 50 deaths from small-pox. The DOVE was from Aberdeen with 219 passengers.

I do hope you find your family,

Sue
