Hi Scott,

Using the digitalarkivet I found "Andrew" departing Bergen on that date ...

1901 Mars 7 Andreas Steffensen Øfstegård m
     ug Søn af
Husmand 1882 19 Hammer Hammer Stjerne L pp

Using the same farm name spelling, I also found a Bernt (no ship info
included) ...

1893 Feb. 17 Bernt Steffensen Øfstegård m ug
     Skomagerssøn 1871 22 Hammer Hammer

I found Bernt once again in 1911 and Martin with his wife, in 1920

1911 Feb. 1 Bernt Steffensen (Øfstegård) m g

I didn't find Martin's emigration, but you can experiment here

Now, to explain what I found.

Andreas departed Bergen on March 7th 1901. He would have taken a "feeder
ship" to Hull, train to Liverpool to embark on a White Star Line ship, with
a prepaid ticket [Stjerne L pp].
It looks like his "feeder ship" was the Wilson Line Spero (1)

For Norwegians leaving from Christiania on "feeder ships," the 'rule of
thumb' is to add two weeks +/- to the emigration date to estimate the North
American arrival date, being a Bergen departure, add a couple more
days. The SPERO sailed first from Trondheim to Kristiansund to Ålesund to
Bergen to Stavanger, then Hull.

White Star Line

White Star Line was sailing to Boston or New York in 1901.

For Bernt in 1911, it was the same deal as Andreas only he was going to
join a Cunard Line ship at Liverpool. The "feeder-ship" names are here for
1911, but no sailing date info to confirm which one

Cunard Line

For Martin and his wife in 1920, it is different as they sailed direct on a
Norwegian-America Line ship.

Norwegian-America Line
http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/noramerica.html

They would have taken the train to Christiania and sailed from there for
New York on March 13th 1920 aboard the STAVANGERFJORD.
http://www.norwayheritage.com/p_route.asp?ro=n08

The Stavangerfjord arrived at New York on March 26th 1920. I decided to
check their passenger list on Ancestry and it says they were going to
brother "Bert" in SD and that Martin had been in the US before 1902-1919
and for his wife, 1906-1919, so now you have a better idea of their
emigration date ... although, always keep in mind that the actual year is
the most misremembered part of any date.

Ahhh ... on Ancestry I did find Martin's emigration in 1901 !!! with his
son Steffen, age 8, going to brother Berndt in SD. They were on the
American Line ST. LOUIS which arrived at New York July 14th 1901, from
Southampton, England.

When you go looking, he is indexed as Martin Ostegaard
