[TSL] MEDORA>Hamburg or Bremen>US, 1849

My great-great grandfather, Peter EHRENBERG, his wife, Gertrud, & their 6
children emigrated from Hillen Recklinghausen, Westfalen, Prussia in the
spring of 1849. They left either the Port of Hamburg or Port of Bremen
circa May/June 1849 aboard the "MEDORA". I have looked at a book at the
Genealogical Research Room at the Library of Congress which stated there had
been 3 different ships named "MEDORA" or "American MEDORA".

Could someone steer me in the right direction re: the "MEDORA" which I am
looking for. The captain of the ship may have been named HAMMER. My
great grandfather, Joseph EHRENBERG, may have married his daughter,
Margaret. Captain Hammer settled at Lackawanna, Erie County, NY and served
the rest of his professional life as a captain on Great Lake steamers.

Thanks!
